Should you optimise for Mobile Phone and Tablets?

Mobile websites will receive preferential treatment if a search is coming from a mobile device.

GoogleBot-Mobile is used primarily to improve the user experience on mobile search.  One of the features is Skip Redirect for Smartphone Optimised pages which will actually change the URL in the search results to go directly to the mobile version of the website.

In 2011, the number of smart-phones sold exceeded the number of PC’s sold and by 2014, mobile internet usage is predicted to overtake desktop/laptop usage.
